Why Avocado?

Avocado is an excellent first food for you baby.  It is very nutrient dense and creamy like breast milk.  It is easy to make at home.  All you have to do is mash it up and add some water to thin it down to the consistency of breast milk.  I really like it because it is all natural and unprocessed.  It is also not a high risk food for allergies.  I preferred Jack’s first food to be something unprocessed with out preservatives.  Avocado is loaded with healthy phytonutrients including:

  • Healthy Unsaturated fats
  • Folate
  • Fiber
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin C
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Lutein (an antioxidant and great for healthy eyes)
  • Beta-carotene

Heather! What a great blog! I also strive to avoid preservatives, eat local and unprocessed foods,
so I think starting Jack out on that first thing is wonderful. He’ is so friggin’ cute, but I’m sure you already knew that.

I’ll make sure to bookmark your blog and check back for updates.

My oldest daughter wasn’t interested in baby food at all. Avacados was a better substitution and contained lots of protein and tons of nutrients. Both my girls love avacados to this day and eat them when ever we can find good ones! There are also websites where you can order them online and have in season ones delivered to your door!
